Sometimes a yard doesn't need a full overhaul - it just needs the right details cleaned up. That's exactly what we were working with here. The bones were solid, but the edging was worn plastic, the space under the deck had no real finish to it, and the tree rings out front looked flat and undefined. Small things, but they add up fast when you're looking at the overall picture.

We pulled out the old plastic edging and replaced it with bullet pavers - a much cleaner, more durable border that holds its line and doesn't buckle or fade over time. That swap alone made a noticeable difference in how sharp the beds looked against the lawn. Then we filled the area under the deck with 1.5-inch river rock. That space tends to collect mud, weeds, and headaches when it's left as bare ground - river rock solves all of that with basically zero upkeep going forward.

Out front, we rebuilt the tree rings with larger fieldstone for the border and packed fresh red mulch inside. The fieldstone gives it a solid, intentional look - not flimsy or temporary. The red mulch pops against the green lawn and really frames those trees well. It's the kind of detail that people notice even if they can't put their finger on exactly why the yard looks better.

This is the kind of landscaping work we genuinely enjoy. It's not always about big installs or major construction - sometimes the highest-impact thing we can do is sharpen up what's already there. A few targeted upgrades like these can pull an entire property together without blowing the budget.
