Sometimes a front yard just needs a full reset. Not a patch job - a complete tear-out and start over. That's exactly what we did here. Old overgrown shrubs, worn-out edging, and dated rock were all ripped out to make way for something cleaner and sharper.

We brought in a Kubota track loader to do the heavy lifting on demolition and prep. That kind of equipment makes a big difference on a job like this - it keeps the work efficient, protects the lawn, and means we're not cutting corners with manual labor where it doesn't make sense. The prep work is where good landscaping either comes together or falls apart.

Once the bed was cleared and prepped, we installed St. Cloud granite throughout. It's a great material for Minnesota - it holds up through freeze-thaw cycles, it drains well, and it doesn't break down or shift color the way some cheaper rock options do. Pair that with fresh new plantings - compact shrubs and deep burgundy-leafed plants for contrast - and you've got a bed that looks intentional and put-together without being high-maintenance.

The whole design philosophy here was clean lines and sharp contrast. The granite grounds everything visually, the green and burgundy plantings add life and color, and the layout keeps things simple enough that ongoing upkeep stays minimal. Low maintenance doesn't have to mean boring - it just means making smart material choices up front.

We're also partnering with Elevated Curb Appeal to add custom curbing as the finishing touch on this one. That's going to really lock in the edge detail and take the whole look to the next level. If your front yard is stuck in a rut and you're not sure where to start, sometimes a full refresh like this is the most straightforward path to something you're actually proud of.
